Beginner - Beginning Punk

Ok, here\'s just a couple of tips and beats for all you punks out there
trying to learn just how they do it so fast!!! I\'ve been playing punk 
for a while now and i\'ve got it down pretty good, so here are some tips:

B = Kick
S = Snare
H = Hi-Hat
C = Crash

I\'m not getting too complicated here, like fills or nothing, so we won\'t
be needing toms or even the ride, however, you can replace the hi-hat with
the ride sometimes, if it makes it easier to learn.

This is the simplest of all the basic punk beats... in order to play the bassdrum
so fast without a double bass drum, or double bassdrum pedal, there is a simple
trick i like to call the punker-block, take a 2 by 4 piece of wood, and cut it so
that it fits under the end of your bassdrum pedal, right under your heel, this
raises your heel making it much easier to hit the pedal down and bounce back 
fast enough to make this beat work...

Also, some newb\'s seem to make the mistake of playing this beat (below) instead 
of the correct way

which sounds really crappy, and i\'m sure is very annoying to the drummer and the
rest of whoever your playing with... plus it\'s ameteurish, just play it
really slow to start out with, which sadly sounds like an 80\'s heavy metal ballad (ewwwwwww)
but hey, it works, enjoy, and here are more punk variations you can try:
