Dead On The Floor Acoustic

Dead On the Floor (Acoustic Version) - Alkaline Trio - This Addiction
D# Standard/Half a step down (D#G#C#F#A#D#)
Arranged/Tabbed By Jack Cookson (Torn Asunder)
This is the chords for the acoustic of 'Dead On the Floor' off Alkaline
Trio's new album: This Addiction. It came out today and this song was one of
my favourites. The band play it half a step down in the acoustic version, but
you could play the electric version in standard tuning from these chords and
it would sound fine. If you're playing this song solo, then ignore the tab
parts, they're just there for if you got a second guitarist handy.
*IMPORTANT*
The chords used in this song are shown below,
as I think the highlight chord diagrams are incorrect a lot of the time.
Although in the recording the chords Matt uses are power chords, I've put
in some chord variations that sound nice too, they'll give the song more
feeling if you're playing on your own.

Don't play the strings marked with an 'x'

Power chords:
E5 (022xxx)
A5 (x022xx)
B5 (x244xx)
C#5 (x466xx)

Variations:
Emodal (079900)
Asus2 (x02200)
Bsus4 (x24400)
C#m7 (x46600)
Intro Riff
(Rhythm guitar chords displayed above in the appropriate
places, although in the first riff, there is no rhythm guitar.)

   E5 A5

   E5 A5

   E5 A5 B5

         E5
Like two ships in the night we're colliding and sinking
  A5 B5
Into the black sea of our love
       E5
We navigated past the port of logical thinking
     A5 B5
Lost sight of the stars up above

       C#5
Now my heart is a mess
       A5
Murder scene in my chest
     E5 B5
Not a clue how you got through the door
       E5
But I'm glad that you came
   B5
No regret and no shame
       A5 B5
As I'm lying here dead on the floor

Interlude Riff

   E5 A5

   E5 A5 B5

This is riff is played again later on, you'll see.

         E5
I took a blind leap of faith, it's not crashing and burning
        A5 B5
With my heart fast asleep in your bed
    E5
I got on the ground safe but with my insides turning
      A5 B5
And a picture of you in my head

      C#5 A5
As I wandered away deep in shock and dismay
     E5 B5
In a daze, just repeating your name
         A5 B5
Well the fact of the matter is both our hearts shatter way too goddamn easily

         E5 A5
When you asked me if I'd stay forever
         B5 A5
Guess you meant just for the week
E5 A5
 We felt so good together
       B5 A5
It was way too good to be
       C#5 A5
When I left you there early that morning my darling
  E5 B5
I told you that I'd miss you so
 A5 B5
I got on that plane with my heart soaring
                             E5
But now it's falling like snow

Play interlude riff again.

         E5
Like two ships in the night we're colliding and sinking
  A5 B5
Into the black sea of our love
       E5
We navigated past the port of logical thinking
     A5 B5
Lost sight of the stars up above

       C#5
Now my heart is a mess
       A5
Murder scene in my chest
     E5 B5
Not a clue how you got through the door
       E5
But I'm glad that you came
   B5
No regret and no shame
       A5 B5
As I'm lying here dead on the floor

         E5 A5
When you asked me if I'd stay forever
         B5 A5
Guess you meant just for the week
E5 A5
 We felt so good together
       B5 A5
It was way too good to be
       C#5 A5
When I left you there early that morning my darling
  E5 B5
I told you that I'd miss you so
 A5 B5
I got on that plane with my heart soaring
                            E5 A5
But now it's falling like snow
B5 E5 A5
Now it's falling like snow
B5 E5 A5 B5 E5 A5
Now it's falling like snow
B5 E5
And now it's falling like snow

Play this riff between every 'now it's falling like snow' line, with the
actual line of the song starting on each B5, Matt doesn't actually sing
the line after the second one, but the music is the same.

   E5 A5 B5

Sorry if this part is a bit hard to understand, but if you listen to the song
enough, you should get it :).
