Advanced - 3 On 2 Polyrhythm

Quite a simple sounding beat, but hard to play (and tab).

The uses triplets (12th notes) on the left hand with quavers (8th notes) on the right. The basic layout is the following, once youve got it play about with it, its quite effective before fills, but it doesn't fit that often:

Written in 6:4 not 4:4, played in 4:4

HH | x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x-- |
SD | ------x-x-x----------x-- |
BD | x--------------x--x----- |

If you havn't played anything like this you'll probably find this really hard, so try these rudements (b is for both hands)

12:8
       SD | x-xxx-x-xxx-x-xxx-x-xxx- |
       BD | x-----x-----x-----x----- |
 Sticking | l-rlr-l-rlr-l-rlr-l-lrl- |
          | r-lrl-r-lrl-r-rlr-r-rlr- |
          | b-lrl-b-lrl-b-lrl-b-lrl- |
          | b-rlr-b-rlr-b-rlr-b-rlr- |

12:8
       SD | X--x--X--x--X-x-x-X-x-x- |
 Sticking | L--l--L--l--L-l-l-L-l-l- |
          | R--r--R--r--R-r-r-R-r-r- |

Its easy to start with if you think of the triplets as a tiny fill, seperate to the rest, untill you get used to it. Remember to make your right hand stay constant.

Here are some ideas i've not used semi-quavers (16th notes) as 1 bar would be 48 characters long.

4:4 -> 12:8
HH | x--x--x--x--x--f-------- |
SD | ------x-x-x------------- |
BD | x--x--------x-----x--x-- |
HT | ------------xxx--------- |
MT | ---------------xxx------ |
LT | ------------------xxx--- |
CC | ---------------------x-- |

HH | x--x--x--x--x--x--x--Of- |
SD | ------x-----------x-x-x- |
BD | x-----------x----------- |

HH | x--x--x--x--x--x--x--x-- |
SD | ------x-----x-x-x-x-x-x- |
BD | x--x--------x-----x----- |
