Benny sang this song in a voice slightly like Bob Dylan's.
The Ccouple looked down at their newborn child in their shack that was
falling to G7bits,
The mother said, "Let's call it Johnny," the father said, "Let's call it
Cquits."
And when Johnny was four, his pa was too poor to buy toys from the
C7Christmas shop Fshelves,
So he just fired his gun and he Ctold his young son Father G7Christmas

Now Cone day his ma took him to a fair and he went on a round-aG7bout,
He giggled with glee, "I wanna go wee!" Everyone heard the boy Cshout.
She took him by the hand, from the fairground they ran, she took him be-

Then he said, "CPlease can I go 'round again, ma? Please can I go

At Ctwelve he danced with his gym mistress, she said, "Johnny, you're

I wish I was your ma for just half an hour," John said, "I'll have a word
with my Cdad."
Then someone dropped a lit cigarette down the back of her dress but

She just walked off the floor and she Csaid, "What a bore, I shall
G7just have to sit this one Cout."
And Johnny said, "CPlease can we go 'round again, Miss Rhodes, please
can we go 'round aG7gain?
I've not been this close to a woman before and heck knows when I will

At C18, Irene with the hourglass figure got him in a heck of a G7fix,
Her pa came 'round and Johnny was found with his hands on a quarter to

They were married the next day in the church by the bay, 10 a.m., the

Johnny's Cmother-in-law came to live next door, she had a tongue that
stung like a G7bee,
She said, "I'll dance on your grave," Johnny said, "That's brave, 'cause

At 50 he took to coming home late, he wasn't a C7creature of Fhabit.
If he came home early his wife thought he was Cup to something, if he
came home G7late she thought that he'd Chad it.
He was Cjust 91 on the day he passed on, it was the way that he hoped it
would G7be,
He was shot by a beauty queen's husband in a fit of jealousCy.
As he lay on the floor a priest was sent forward, and with his last breath
C7Johnny conFfessed,
"I spent all of my money on Cwoman and drink and like a G7fool I
squandered the Crest."

This is one in a series of Benny Hill songs I've learned by ear. Most of
these songs have only three chords which makes it easy figure them out. I
might have missed some chords or put the wrong ones down, but the basic
structure is there at any rate. I welcome any comments, corrections or
suggestions for improvement.
