(just bend to the pitch shown) example 7b9 7th fret bend up two half-steps (to a 9) ^I use the 7^ for a smaller bend, usually an index finger bend where you pull down example 7^ 7th fret bend to approximately 7.5 example 7^8 7th fret bend up a half step (to an 8)
