Adams Song Acoustic

Adam's Song - Blink 182 (Acoustic)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR-zbfDOvWE
Tabber: Benjamin McDonnell
Email: [email protected]

There is an acoustic version of this song (link) with really nice, big open chords and I
was surprised I could not find a tab for it so I made one. This sounds fairly correct
to me and is great to just smash out loudly in this open tuning.

Not claiming that this is perfect but it's the best I can do by ear, and sounds pretty
close to me.

PLEASE DON'T BE TURNED OFF BY THE CHORD NAMES! It really is a very simple song, I was
just trying to be thorough AND I wanted to leave some parts up to your discretion (though
I've stated how I play it using *'s).

Tuning DADGCe (in place of EADGBe)

A star (*) will denote the SECOND variation of the chord, no star will mean the FIRST.
An accent (^) will mean EITHER (use whatever you prefer).

Okay I've posted doubles for a lot of these because I felt like some worked better in
certain parts than others. All in all they are the same chords just with an added higher
note or bass note.

Also keep in mind most of the chords in this song are derived from C with a changing
bass note (evident from the intro picking pattern)

Intro:

Guitar 1
e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
C|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--2-------2-------2-------2-------2-------2-------2-------2---------------|
A|0---3---0---3-------3-------3-------3-------3-------3-------3-------------|
D|----------------5-------5-------3-------3-------0-------3-----------------|

Guitar 2 (on the second playthrough)
  C/A* C/G C/F(or Csus4/F) C/D Csus4/F*
e|0---------------0---------------0---------------0-------1-----------------|
C|0---------------0---------------0---------------0-------0-----------------|
G|0---------------0---------------0---------------0-------0-----------------|
D|5---------------5---------------2---------------0-------3-----------------|
A|7---------------7---------------3---------------5-------3-----------------|
D|7---------------5---------------3---------------0-------3-----------------|

Again, A star (*) will denote the SECOND variation of the chord, no star will mean the
FIRST. An accent (^) will mean EITHER (use whatever you prefer).

Verse 1: (using chord shapes from the list up top)

C^ Csus4/F
I never thought I'd die alone
C/A Csus4/F
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
C^ Csus4/F
I trace the cord back to the wall
C/A Csus4/F
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
C^ Csus4/F
I took my time, I hurried up
C/A Csus4/F
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
C^ Csus4/F
I'm too depressed to go on
C/A Csus4/F
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

Pre-Chorus

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
C|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--0-------0-------0-------2-----------------------------------------------|

I like to use 053000 instead of C/D* here. I don't know the name (c11(no7)?)it is weird
but sounds nice sometimes try it

C^ C/D*
   I never conquered, rarely came
C/A Csus4/F
16 just held such better days
C^ C/D*
Days when I still felt alive
C/A Csus4/F
We couldn't wait to get outside ~~~intensify strum pattern~~~
C^ C/D*
The world was wide, too late to try
C/A Csus4/F
The tour was over we'd survived
C^ C/D*
   I couldn't wait till I got home
C/A Csus4/F
To pass the time in my room alone

Hope this made sense to you guys, the chord names seem confusing but just learn the
shapes and it's easy as.

Hope you like it,

Ben.
