House of the Risin' Sun(ver.2)

this song is in 6/8 so think of the counting in two
sets of tripplets, 1,2,3,2,2,3 (1,2,3,4,5,6). there is
a great figured chromatic bass line that is essential
to the way Bob performs this song, it truly makes the
song so make sure you get the low notes. the strumming
pattern, as indicated, is 1 2a3 4 5a6 but hell its much
easier to just litsen to a recording.

Lyrics:

       Am C/G D/F# F
There is a house down in new orleans

     Am E Am E
They call the risin? sun

         Am C/G D/F# F
And it?s been the ruin of many a poor girl

    Am E Am E
And me, oh god, I?m a-one

My mother was a tailor
She sewed these new blue jeans
My sweetheart was a gambler, lord
Down in new orleans

(NOTE: in some of Bobs Recordings he does not sing
a few of these verses)

Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he?s satisfied
Is when he?s on a drunk

He fills his glasses up to the brim
And he?ll pass the cards around
And the only pleasure he gets out of life
Is ramblin? from town to town

(he sings this next one and then goes to the end
and repeats the first verse)

Oh tell my baby sister
Not to do what I have done
But shun that house in new orleans
They call the risin? sun

Well, it?s one foot on the platform
And the other foot on the train
I?m goin? back to new orleans
To wear that ball and chain

I?m a-goin? back to new orleans
My race is almost run
I?m goin? back to end my life
Down in the risin? sun

There is a house in new orleans
They call the risin? sun
It?s been the ruin of many poor girl
And me, oh god, I?m a-one

Am(x02210) C/G(332010) D/F#(2x0323) F(13321(1))
