Little Less Bitter

Chris borrowed the first verse of "Darkness on The Edge of Town" by Springsteen
for this tune. But it's one of my favorites he's ever done.

8/19/13 I got back into playing this song and realized that the C chord in the
verses just isn't right. This way sounds a lot closer to what he's really playing.

CAPO 5th Fret! Definitley Youtube the song to get the riff down

Am G
I lit another on the on-ramp
F Am G F
Put on Darkness on the Edge of Town...
Am G
Ain't it funny how a sad song
              F
Can make the road long
                Am G F
Cause a man to cover ground...

Am G
With every smile in the rearview
F Am
Right next to all them things that I shoulda done
   G F
I never did, Not a single one
Am G F
Her eyes were the first prize
                             Am G F
In a lonesome game I shoulda never won

Well this
C
Place I'm headin' just don't
Am
Seem much better I guess it
G
Just hasn't set in
          F
I should start forgettin' well this
C
Sure ain't Jersey
Am
But I'm racin' down these streets again
G
Headin' for the shore
F
With a little luck
A little less bitter and

(Intro)

A little less bitter and

(Intro)

Am G F
I said goodbye to a closed eye
                       Am G F
Just beggin' for it's ocean blue
Am G F
Cause after all it's a long ride
                   Am G F
From Badlands to Fairview...

Am G
Ain't it funny how one little girl
F
Could take a place like this whole wide world
Am G F
Crush it down make it seem so goddamn...Small
Am G F
Ain't it somethin' how a man with nothin' can
                    Am G F
Always find a lower place to fall

Well this
Place I'm headin' just don't
Seem much better I guess it
Just hasn't set in
I should start forgettin' well this
Sure ain't Jersey
But I'm racin' down these streets again
Headin' for the shore
And with a little luck
A little less bitter and

(Intro x2)

         Am G F
They're still racing down at the Trestles
           Am G F
But that blood it never burned in her veins
       Am G F
Now I hear she's got a house up in Fairview
        Am G F
And a style she's trying to maintain
     Am G F
Well if she wants to see me
         Am G F
You can tell her that I'm easily found
  Am G F
Tell her there's a spot out 'neath Abram's Bridge
              Am G F
And tell her there's a darkness on the edge of town
Am G F
There's a darkness on the edge of town
Am G F
I'm that darkness on the edge...
     (Intro) x2
Of town...

End on Am
