DORIS & EDWIN: THE MOVIE
by Christine Lavin

The Dfirst time that she saw him
  was in the Goffice canteen
He was Bbbuying a cup of coffee --
  Athree sugars and double cream
DTwo weeks later she saw him
  at the eleGvator banks
His Ahands were full, she held the doors for
  Ghim and he said Dthanks

Now she's in Bmlove
For her it doesn't take F#much
She's in Bmlove
But this is not your Aordinary office crush
For Bmshe works in the Dbasement
  Gnear the boiler room door
And Dhe works in Aaccounting
  on the G37th Dfloor

Now I'm not Dmuch of a mathematician
  but even GI can see
That in a Bbbuilding of 37 floors
  and Afour thousand employees
Her Dchances of running into him were really
  Gnot that good
Even though she Ahung out at the canteen and rode the elevator
  Gevery spare minute she Dcould

'Cause she's in Bmlove
And she don't even know his F#name (it's Edwin)
She's in Bmlove
Love can be Asuch a cruel cruel game
For Bmshe works in the Dbasement
  Gnear the boiler room door
And Dhe works in Aaccounting
  on the G37th Dfloor

(And by the way, did I happen to mention...)
That when this Abuilding was constructed
  it was Bmdone improperly
And Aone day on the fourth floor
there was a Bmshort in the electricity
It Aburned up walls and desks and chairs
  and Bmall the secretaries
And the Aalarm did not go off until it
  Bmreached floor 33
Floor thirty-Athree, floor thirty-Bmthree

(And on the upper floors people were running and screaming and
jumping out of windows to get away from the flames -- it was
gross)

Now the Awoman in the basement,
  Bmshe ran up the stairs
AOut the emergency exit
  Bminto the fresh air
AShe looked up because just then
  Bmit began to shower
That's Awhen she saw her true love coming...
  one Bmhundred miles an hour
Oh-Aoh, Oh Bmno....

I'm not Dmuch of a mathematician,
  but even GI can see
The Bbchances of him landing on her
were Avery slim indeed (but he did!)
So they Dburied them together
  the Gfollowing day
And even Anow when I ride the elevator
  GI can hear someone Dsay

She was in Bmlove
For her it didn't take F#much
She was in Bmlove
But this was not your Aordinary office... crush
For Bmshe worked in the Dbasement
  Gnear the boiler room door
And Dhe worked in Aaccounting
  on the G37th floor

BmShe worked in the Dbasement
  and Ghe the 37th floor
But Dfate brought them toAgether,
  they Gflirted neverDmore

Nevermore, nevermore...
