A (0|0|2|2|2|0)

Bsus2 (2|2|4|4|2|2)
C#sus2 (4|4|6|6|4|4)

To get it closer to the original, you have to play with the "A" a bit,
work with a hammer on and pull off on the fifth string, changing from 2 to 0
and other way around - even beginners will have sorted it out easily while
listening to the song.
Same goes for the "E" which follows, bit more complicated though. I use to
play the full E first, then hit the empy (0) fourth string two times followed
by (4) on the third string (with the little finger) and then from there a pull
off back the the E which you're still holding.

Intro

A E (x2)

 A E
Elizabeth said last night the lake roared like the ocean

      Bsus2 C#sus2
I was landlocked under the orange-white solstice moon.

         A E
Imagine: imagining a place just meant to conjure up another.

        Bsus2 C#sus2
Three degrees of hometown disconnect in my unborn daughter’s room.

         A E
Take the 18 bus past the place my grandfather grew up

       Bsus2 C#sus2
before he got out and met a pretty Swede at the Bible college choir

             A E
and left his sister wearing saddle shoes in the care of the county

         Bsus2 C#sus2 A E (2x)
with her forehead covered in electrode glue, as to not disturb the wires.

  A E
Mistakes were made. Grind it out: I can see the edges

    Bsus2 C#sus2
the parts where the ends start hemorrhaging time and leaking love.

        A E
Playing wounded so well, we fell like warm breath cooled.

       Bsus2 C#sus2
Like a class ring on a chain the plastic jewel fell out of.

         A E
Got your ghost ghouling all over Milwaukee

             A E
haunting the homes and factories of captains of dead industries

          Bsus2 C#sus2
I’ve seen no place with the capacity to hoard shame like us

       Bsus2 C#sus2 A E (x4)
in the warehouses possessed and left unsold by the city.

      A E
I was 20 in September in the Windexed dirty book store

        A Bsus2
and the cathode-green skinscreens interrupted by the news

          A (A)
and those fuckers stole my story - my american narrative

   Bsus2 C#sus2
my connection and my star-spangled nudes.

A E
Jimmer drew a minty Kool and a nine volt battery

      A E
and a pubic pile of grey steel wool from his jacket on the balcony

        Bsus2
He said we fucked up but won’t admit it

        Bsus2
He said we fucked up but won’t admit it

        Bsus2
He said we fucked up but won’t admit it

       C#sus2 Bsus2 A E (x4) A
due to endless imperial vanity.
