None of them
This song has been misquoted a lot. The actual voicings in the initial hook are from D C#, not D to C and G to F# instead of G to F. However, as you'll see, there is both a C and an F in that phrase....that's why it's quite hard to hear. I admit, I was once a of this funky bassline. (This is my first tab so sorry if it's not as clear as it be/will be eventually). Tuning:Standard Verse: D7 G-------7-6-7-6-7-6-7------7--5---------- D---------------------------------7------ Repeat x2 A---5------------------5----------------- E---------------------------------------- Verse: G7 G------------------------------------- D-----5-4-5-4-5-4-5------5---3-------- than back to D7 A---------------------------------3--- E--3------------------3--------------- The Hits G----------------------------5---9--- D---7--7----5--5-------4--7---------- A-------------------5---------------- E------------------------------------ This next part the bass lays out and the horns play this. But, if you're not lucky to have horn players the bass fills the shoes of this line pretty damn well. G--------7-5------5------------------ D--------------7-----7----3---------- A---5-------------------------------- E------------------------------------ The high intensity groove G----------------------------------- D--55-33-22-00--55-33-22-00--------- A----------------------------------- E----------------------------------- .....chord change G----------------------------------- D----------------------------------- A-----55-33-22-00--55-33-22-00------ E----------------------------------- .......and back G----------------------------------- D--55-33-22-00--55-33-22-00---7----- A----------------------------------- E----------------------------------- and the very last hits G----------------------------5---9--7--5----------------------------- D---7--7----5--5-------4--7----------------7--5---3---"Hey"----0----- A-------------------5------------------------------------------------ E-------------------------------------------------------------------- Just remember to slow down at the end, and wait until Mr. Brown tells you to play the note. That's all the parts, find the structure yourself. Peace.
