The Fishermans Daughter

A fantastic singer from Northern Ireland! Check him out on facebook :)
I wrote down a version with easier chords. The original version is two half-steps down so just use the
transpose-tool on the top left corner if you wanna play it like Mike Donaghy! Otherwise you'd have to
play it with a capo on the 10th fret which is a bit too high in my opinion :D

Intro: Em C D G G

       G C
As the children they play in the corner
        D G D
and the laughter it fills the whole street.
          Em C
There's a man that stands by the boathouse
       D G
with a daughter that I'd like to meet.

          C D
She's got long brown hair that shines like the sun
      G D Em
and a skirt that comes down past her knees.
    C G
Her smile is as bright as the mornin'
    D G
her eyes as blue as the sea.

      C D
And I asked her her name and she turned with a smile
           G D Em
and said: "Stranger I don't know you yet."
         C G
I said: "There's no such thing as a stranger
     D G
just friends that we haven't met."

    G C
Her neck is home to her necklace
         D G D
with the cross of our lord Jesus Christ.
      Em C
And I asked her if she was religious
                D G
she said: "I'll let you know later tonight."

       C D
As she spoke of the past and the trouble she had
        G D Em
I could tell that she hurt deep inside.
         C G
I said: "Darling I'll take all your heartache
    D G
and never will I leave your side."

Interlude: Em C D G G

   G C
We walked in the rain through the forest
       D G D
as the moon did its best to appear.
    Em C
She said: "We should start to go home now."
     D G
Then said she was happier here.

C D
Home is a place that I don't see much.
       G D Em
It's a place that I'd rather forget.
         C G
And it's nice to have people like you here
   D G
to take my mind off my regrets.

           G C
And as the sun rose I looked out my window
        D G D
and the fishermans daughter was gone.
    Em C
She didn't leave clues of her actions
    D G
she did say she had to move on.

         C D
And I'll miss you my darling and I wish you well
      G D Em
and I hope that you'll find peace inside.
   C G
If ever when you're feeling lonely
     D G
just know that I'm right by your side.

      C D
And I'll miss you my darling and I wish you well
      G D Em
and I hope that you'll find peace inside.
   C G
If ever when you're feeling lonely
     D G
just know that I'm right by your side.

   C G
If ever when you're feeling lonely
     D G
just know that I'm right by your side.
