Down In The Valley

Down in the Valley
Traditional

This is a traditional heart-sick, love song that is very simply played. I like to do a
modified banjo roll, instead of just droning the same 2 chords over and over. I will
out how I play it, but any good slow, even arpeggio will work.

D A7
Down in the valley, the valley so low
A7 D
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow
D A7
Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow
A7 D
Hang your head over, hear the wind blow

Roses love sunshine, violets love dew
Angels in heaven, know I love you
Know I love you, dear, know I love you
Angels in heaven, know I love you

If you don't love me, love whom you please
Throw your arms 'round me, give my heart ease
Give my heart ease, dear, give my heart ease
Throw your arms 'round me, give my heart ease

Build me a castle 40 feet high
So I can see you as you ride by
As you ride by, dear, as you ride by
So I can see you as you ride by

Write me a letter, send it by mail
Send it in care of the Birmingham jail
Birmingham jail, dear, the Birmingham jail
Send it in care of the Birmingham jail

Writing this letter containing three lines
Answer my question "Will you be mine?"
Will you be mine, dear, will you be mine
