Auntie Alice

Capo 3

Gadd11
320013

Cmaj7 (in this context)
022010

You can replace the Gadd11-G finger thing with the Cmaj7-Em one if you like.
Or try C-Em, using the index finger and the pinky simultaneously to hit the Cs
on the second and fifth strings. That actually sounds best to me.
The important thing is the B-C-B-C note alternation for that riff.

Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice, where are you now?
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
We rung your number and they called it "disconnected."
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
In a dream you come sailing out
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
of a pool of deep blue water.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice keeps spiders in her house,
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
feeds them earwigs and mosquitoes.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Her pink tongue comes darting out
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
from where her front teeth are missing.

Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
I went downstairs in the middle of the night
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
'cause I heard her scratching at the door.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
She fed me chocolates and said she couldn't sleep,
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
asked me what the bug light was for.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice wears the same dress every day.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Butter turns green on her counter.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
She sings me songs she learned on Christmas eve,
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
tells me stories about castles.

        C D

Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice, look out for us
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
who think we know where we are going.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Your picture gathers dust on the fridge
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
and watches us keep our appointments.
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice howling through the woods,
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
Auntie Alice in my dream,
Gadd11 G Gadd11 G Am C
somehow gone from the phone book for good.
G Am G
Life forms around you when you leave.
