Tuning: Half Step Down

OK, the guitars are tuned down for this song, but I'm going to refer to strings, keys,
and chords as if it were in STANDARD TUNING. That being said, this song is in E minor,
but the solo is in F# minor and A minor. Yeah, there's a key shift. Weird. Anyway, here
it is: Screenslaves.

Intro:
x6
Guitar 1

Guitar 2 – Comes in on 3rd run of the riff. With your guitar volume off, you can strum
an E5 power chord, then do a volume swell to come in.

A|-----10---9---10---14---12---15--14~---------------------------------------|

Verse:

In the first part there may be some tremolo picking in the background over the E5, it’s
kinda hard to tell. Anyway, you can play the verse with the tremolo picking if you want,
the notes are just the roots of the chords, but be careful to keep your timing right.

Solo:

Alright, I couldn’t figure out the entire solo :( but I think I got the real defining
parts to it. You can really just improvise using the F# natural minor and A natural minor
scales. Pentatonic will work, but you won’t get the same mood. Again, I’ve tabbed a few
parts, so take a look at them.

        This part is in F#minor:

e|------14---------14--------14--16--17--17--16b17~----------------------------|
B|------17b19----17b19~--------------------------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e|---14--17--16--14--14--16--17--16--14----(IMPROV)----------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Listen to the rhythm, and you’ll hear the key change to Aminor. At this point the lead
guitar plays:

e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------8-------8-------------------------------------------------|
G|-------------------7b9----7b9-----7b9rp7~------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

At the end of the solo he does a whammy bar dive

e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------------------9->>>-Dive----------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|--0 >>> Dive Bomb------------------------------------------------------------|

Solo Rhythm

x2
e|-----------------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------------------|
G|-------------7---------------2-----------------------------|
D|-----4-------7-------4-------2----2------------------------|
A|-----4-------5-------4-------0----2------------------------|
E|-----2----------------2------------0-----------------------|

THIS is where the solo changes to Aminor

(Still solo rhythm)
e|-----------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------------|
G|-----2------------2-----5----------------------------|
D|-----2------3-----2-----5---5------------------------|
A|-----0------3-----0-----3---5------------------------|
E|------------1----------------3-----------------------|

e|-----------------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------------|
G|-----2-------------2-----5---7-----------------------|
D|-----2-------3-----2-----5---7-----------------------|
A|-----0-------3-----0-----3---5-----------------------|
E|-------------1---------------------------------------|

Intro x2 (Both guitars. This is behind the whammy bar dives)

Chorus x4 (the first two are normal, like what I’ve tabbed, but on the last two they
just tremolo pick the root notes. I believe they are 16th notes, or 4 notes per beat.)

Intro x2

End on an Eminor chord,
e|-------------|
B|-------------|
G|-----9-------|
D|-----9-------|
A|-----7-------|
E|-----0-------|

Ok, that should be it. Sorry for the lack of a solo, but I did my best. I hear a lot of
half-step trills in there (even though I couldn’t figure them out), so find and use them
your minor scales if you’re improvising. Thanks and good luck!
