The Wrong Direction Acoustic

ACOUSTIC LIVE VERSION

Passenger The Wrong Direction

Capo 5th fret

---Transcribed by Scott Gittins---

TRUE acoustic version as heard on Coffeehouse satellite radio and seen on youtube
CARFEULLY transcribed by yours truly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmdMw_Rfr3I

Quick note: Intro and beginning verses are assumed to be picking unless the ^ thumb
arrow designates a upflick strum with the thumb designated by TmbSt and any of the xxxx
is a
chuck / slap on some of the strings. m is mute anywhere in the tab.

This is my first real tab by hand and reverse engineering from a video. Takes forever,
if you see errors please not and I will fix asap. Thanks! Enjoy

Verse ending chord progression is same as above but does not include the Am, rather it
repeats the G chord shape as seen below

The rest is easy cake. I do not think it is necessary to do the rest at this time. If
you want more please comment or email me. If you master these first two iterations of
the chord progression, the third iteration is a simple strum plucking the bass note of
each chord as you go through.

Verse Lyrics with chord shapes:

             F C
When I was a kid, the things I did, were hidden under the grid
          G Am
young and naive, i never believed love could be so well-hid
       F C
with regret I'm willing to bet they say the older you get
      G Am
gets harder to forgive and harder to forget
    F C
it gets under your shirt like a dagger at work
    G Am
the first cut is the deepest but the rest still flippin hurt
    F
you build your heart of plastic
       C
you're cynical and sarcastic
    G
and end up in a corner on your own

Chorus:

        F C
cause I love to feel loved but i can't stand the rejection
  G Am
i hide behind my jokes as a form of protection
   F C
i thought i was close but under further inspection
   G Am
it seems i've been running in the wrong direction

Intro-Riff

so what's the point of getting your hopes up
when all you ever get is chocked up
when your coked up and remember the reason why you broke up
you call her in the morning when you're coming down and falling
like an old man in the side of the road

cause when your apart you don't a-mingle
when you're together you want to be single
ever the chase, the taste, the kiss, the bliss that made your heart tingle
how much greener the grass is, with your rose tinted glasses
but the butterflies flutter by and leave us on our asses

Chorus:

        F C
cause I love to feel loved but i can't stand the rejection
  G Am
i hide behind my jokes as a form of protection
   F C
i thought i was close but under further inspection
   G Am
it seems i've been running in the wrong direction

Bridge:

       F C
there's fish in the sea for me to make a selection
         G Am
I'd jump in if it wasn't for my ear infection
      F C
cause all i want to do is try to make a connection
   G Am
it seems i've been running in the wrong direction

        F C
cause I love to feel loved but i can't stand the rejection
  G Am
i hide behind my jokes as a form of protection
   F C
i thought i was close but under further inspection
   G Am
it seems i've been running in the wrong direction

        F C
cause I love to feel loved but i can't stand the rejection
  G Am
i hide behind my jokes as a form of protection
   F C
i thought i was close but under further inspection
   G Am
it seems i've been running in the wrong direction
