the key to playing this tune effectively is texture.  this song is perfect
for dropping your low e down to d, but trey doesn't do this, probably due
to the continuity problems it would pose.

trey is basically outlining very simple chords above mike's steady d. it's
really extraordinarily simple, phish-wise, but a great tune.  for
guitarists out there who might not automatically notice the arpeggio's,
i've put the chords they refer to in parenthesis.

anyway, so when playing this, let every note ring as long as possible and,
if you're used to playing with your fingers, really snap the strings when
it seems appropriate.

the only thing i can say is that mike is taking trey's role, impossing
different bass notes over the D.

he seems to like to start out like this:

slowly progressing to other, sometimes far-flung, stuff.
