Here's how I play it. I kind of cheat by using a capo on the 2nd fret,
but you still get the general feel and sound of the song.

Alex Chilton
(Capo on 2nd fret)

Intro:

Em D9 C9 (4x)

A9 G A9 Asus4

    Em D9 C9

E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E
0 2 2 0 0 0 X X 0 2 3 0 X 3 2 0 3 0

    A9 G Asus4

E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E
X 0 2 2 0 0 3 X 0 0 3 3 X 0 2 2 3 0

Verse:
G G/F# FaddG Am7
If he was from Venus would he feed us with a spoon
G G/F# A9
If he was from Mars then that be cool
G G/F# FaddG Am7
Standin' right on campus would he stamp us in a file
G G/F# A9
Hangin' down in Memphis all the while

    G G/F# FaddG Am7

E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E
3 2 0 0 3 3 2 X 0 0 3 3 X X 3 0 1 3 X 0 2 0 1 3

The A9 in verses is played the same as shown above for the intro.

Chorus:

Em D9 C9
Children by the millions wait for Alex Chilton
              D9
When he comes round

Sayin' I'm in love.... (This part is the same as intro)

Bridge:

Cm7 (Eb??) Bb
Never travel too far
Cm D
Without a little Big Star

    Cm7 Bb Cm D

E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E E A D G B E
X 3 5 3 4 3 X 1 3 3 3 X X 3 5 5 4 3 X X 0 2 3 2

That first chord may actually be an Eb, not a Cm7, in which case you
should play it:

     Eb

E A D G B E
X 6 5 3 4 3

But that essentially covers all parts of the song. I haven't tabbed out
the lead (anyone else want to give it a shot??), which is played over the
chords from the intro. Hope someone finds this useful.
