Intro
=====
C F Am
C F Am

Verse
=====
C
   In the spring, when this thing began,
I was down, a dying man
         F
And as I died and decayed, I pushed her away
       Am
saying "why don’t you stay"?

Verse
=====
C
  Days turned to dust and my heart ran dry,
A compromise was a tooth for an eye,
      F
I was under a spell, how could I tell,
  Am
The truth from the lies.

Bridge
======
               F                   Am
And could this wretch really be restored,
           F                     Em    G7
I went out west, and the rain it poured
                     F
And there appeared a king,
                G           G7
And he held his sword, over me.

Chorus
======
           Am
40 days of rain
           F              C
Washed it away, Washed it away
           G                 Am
I knew I'd never be the same again
                    F
I was lost, but I'm found,
             C
lost but I'm found
      G7                         Am
And until I felt the joy and the pain
                       F
I used to pray for the sun
                       C
to turn the night into day
          G7                 G#dim*       Am
And now I kneel and feel the frost on the ground
                 F
And I rise and I pray,
           C                G         G7
Rise and I pray, Rise and I pray

Harmonica solo (same as intro)

C F Am
C F Am

Verse
=====
C
   I kinda had a bad idea,
I slipped into my deepest fear
   F
My room one oh one, the end of the run
    Am
The worst thing I'd ever done

Verse
=====
C
   I couldn’t get the pin back in
CMaj7 **
Where did it end and where did I begin
           F
I tried to call it a day, day after day
Am

Bridge
======
               F                    Am
And could this wretch, really be restored
           F                                        Em      G7
I went out west seeking for the sun and the rain in poured
                     F
And there appeared a king,
                G           G7
and he held his sword over me.

Chorus
======

           Am
40 days of rain
           F              C
Washed it away, Washed it away
           G                 Am
I knew I'd never be the same again
                    F
I was lost, but I'm found,
             C
lost but I'm found
      G7                         Am
And until I felt the joy and the pain
                       F
I used to pray for the sun
                       C
to turn the night into day
        G7                 G#dim*    Am***
I found forgiveness on the back of a bay

And I rise and I pray,

Rise and I pray, Rise and I pray

Outro
=====
                        F
Rise and Pray, Rise and Pray,
                 C                G7
And I fall and I pray, I Rise and Pray,
                 Am
And I fall and I pray,
                          F                   C
'Cause I was lost but Im found, Lost but I'm found,
             G7                        Am
Lost but I'm found, I was lost but I'm found,
             F                    C
Lost but I'm found, Lost but I'm found,
             G7                        C
Lost but I'm found, I was lost but I'm found.

Notes:

* G#dim played after G7, use the chords:

G7:    353433
G#dim: 456464

I am not 100% sure that's what it is - but it sounds OK - it seems what he plays
watching youtube vids of it.

You can just stick with G7 and it sounds OK too.

** He certainly does this live

*** Let ring, then no chord or repeat the F, C, G
Am sequence (he does that live).
