Subject: CRD: Screeching Weasel, "A New Tomorrow"

"A New Tomorrow"
performed by Screeching Weasel
written by Ben Weasel
(C) 1993 No Budget Productions
(P) 1993 Lookout! Records
from the Lookout! Records release Anthem For a New Tomorrow (LK 76 LP/CS/CD)
transcribed by Mike Ripplinger ([email protected])

Notes
* (pm) = palm-muted
* The verse vocals (as best as I can tell) go like this:
    1st lines: Ben Weasel
2nd lines: Ben and Blake Swarzenbach
3rd lines: Ben, Blake, and Cassandra Millspaugh
4th lines: Ben, Blake, Cassandra, and Joey Vindictive
* The chorus, I believe, is sung only by Ben (on lead) and Blake (on
backing), though Vapid may be in there, too.

"A New Tomorrow"

E(pm) / C / G (pm) / D This is played just by guitar twice before the drums
come in (as well as the horse racing report in the b.g.) Once the drums
enter, it's played four more times before vocals enter.

Verse:
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't believe in God or Jesus Christ anymore
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need colleges to validate our lives anymore
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need twelve steps to show us how weak we've become anymore
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need to buy into a system that offers empty promises anymore

Chorus (vocals listed are lead vocals only):
   E G
Anymore... anymore
      D C
I can see... a new tomorrow
      E G
I can see... I can see
      D C
I can see... a new tomorrow

E(pm) / C / G(pm) / D x4 (with horse raceing report in b.g.)

Verse:
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need protection against anything anybody might say
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We know that government can't improve our lives anyway
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need to drug ourselves anymore to keep the boredom away
E(pm) C G(pm) D
We don't need anything except relying on ourselves for a change

Chorus:
      E G
For a change... for a change
      D C
For a change... for a new tomorrow
      E G
I can see... I can see
      D C
I can see... a new tomorrow -- now!

E(pm) / C / G(pm) / D Repeat until end, with lead

Lead riff A

Lead riff B
