Tabbed by: Phillip Rubidge ([email protected])

Tuning: Standard

Telegraphs guitar players are:

Darren LeWarne

I love this song so much it made me to learn my first song by ear, so this is
also my first ever tab.
I’m really happy with it, especially the ending and the solo.

I have tabbed both guitars.

=== Lyrics ===

Do you dance and hope someone’s watching
I hope that their eyes set you free
Though your freedom is my prison
Your happiness my enemy

Stake your claim and hit the city
The neon and street lights are free
Though they’ll cost your soul a fortune
That’s less than you’ve taken from me

That’s less than you’ve taken from me
That’s less than you’ve taken from…

All the postcards and the letters
All the boxes of memories
Take to flames like wooden hearts
And the ash is no good to me

You are the single lonely magpie
At the side of the highway
I say ‘good day’, salute to your feathers
As your pecking at the maggots and flies
Of the road kill
I am stood still, and this is now goodbye

I was hoping one day
I could be myself again
Slip my ankles from your shackles
Leave you holding only chains

When the dust has settled
All the anger and the blame
Are packed away in cardboard boxes
I’ll be ready for the change

I will run my fingers
Through the waters of our past
Undisturbed by old reflections
That nothing good could ever last

Like those childhood summers
That we thought could never end
Until the winter froze our senses
And we could no longer pretend

So I’ve stopped pretending
That we could ever make amends
Old promises are best forgotten
And we could never be best friends

I was hoping one day
I could be myself again
Slip my ankles from your shackles
Leave you holding only chains
