Art Smock

ART SMOCK
by the pains of being pure at heart
from their album 'days of abandon'

tabbed by drew ([email protected])

i picked up this record a couple of days ago and fell in love with this song immediately. adorable

note that the last C in each verse is actually the first C of the chorus

in the intro, you should vary the Dsus4 by making that f# a g (i.e. make string 4 fret 4 a 5)

verse 1:
--------
G6 Dsus4
i want to know what happened to you
G6 Dsus4 Cmaj7
i liked you better in your art smock, mocking art rock
                       Dsus4
without intention, without design
Cmaj7 Dsus4 G6
you said you’d never be fine with being fine, or mine
G6 Dsus4
so we went out to see your favorite band,
G6 Dsus4 Cmaj7 Dsus4
left when we saw they were bone and skin and seventy-seven
      Cmaj7 Dsus4
and i wanted to be something like you
                 C
and nothing like them

chorus:
-------
C
what you wanted i never knew
G
i was a mess but so were you
C
i should have guessed it was going to fall
   G D C
to pieces in my hands again
    G D C
i’m broken where i stand again
  Am
i never learn this lesson right,
      C
but i want you here

interlude: G6 Dsus4 G6 Dsus4 (as intro)

verse 2:
--------
G6 Dsus4
you learned to mingle with a well-bred crowd,
G6 Dsus4
straightened your hair and forgot all about
     Cmaj7 Dsus4
torn jeans and sweaters from the lost and found,
Cmaj7 Dsus4 C
dropped some pounds and the people that you used to hang around

chorus:
-------
C
what you wanted i never knew
G
i was a mess but you turned so cruel
C
i should have guessed it was going to fall
   G D C
to pieces in my hands again
    G D C
i’m broken where i stand again
Am
i never learn this lesson right
       C
When i spent the night it just felt wrong,
     Am
like a Felt song, i’m off the throne
      C
and i need you now, and you’re not around
        G D C
fall to pieces in my hands again
    G D C
i’m broken where i stand again
Am
i never learn this lesson right
      C
but i want you here
