My Home Town

The Wannadies - My Home Town
Album: The Wannadies (1990)
Transcribed by Jon Malmin ([email protected])
Tuning: Standard E

Obscure band, obscure song, obscure little town... But anyone who's grown up
in Skelleftea, Sweden, will recognize this as a classic, and a local anthem!
Note that for the chords D/F# and B7/D#, the second note is only the root note,
played by a bassist on the recording. They're entirely optional on guitar.
Oh, and the chord progressions for the verse and chorus never change throughout the song!

Intro:
Em D/F# G Am (x2)
Em D/F# G Am B7 B7/D# Em C

Verse
Em D/F# G Am
...This is "my home town song"
Em D/F# G Am
...A "how it's like at home song"
Em D/F# G Am B7
...Spending hours all alone
B7/D# Em C
Waiting by the phone

Em D/F# G Am
It's hard to say come closer
Em D/F# G Am
When you're so far away
Em D/F# G Am
And sometimes it's hard to remember that
B7 B7/D# Em C
...Tomorrow's as close as yesterday

Chorus
Am G
This is my home town
C G D
This is my home town
Am G
This is my home town
C G
This is...
D Em Same chord progression as the intro
My hometooown...

Verse
I'm dossing up and down these streets,
Where nothing ever seems to change
Where wet green grass meets dust and dirt
That's where love no longer hurts

I've never been a loner,
At least I've never wanted to be one
So whatever you do, remember one thing:
My home is where my heart is and...

Chorus
This is my home town...

Repeat the intro chord progression again
